What to consider before booking

First urine of the day

Avoid going to the toilet before your appointment, as the first morning urine is ideally used for the test. If this is not possible, do not go to the toilet for at least 2 hours before the test.

Book at least 8 weeks after contact

The test should be performed at least 8 weeks after the last exposure to risk in order to obtain reliable results. Before this time has elapsed, infection cannot be completely ruled out.

Who should take this test?

Recommended for anyone who is sexually active, especially after unprotected sex, if symptoms occur, or for regular check-ups in higher-risk groups.

  • HIV

A virus that weakens the immune system over time. Early detection enables effective treatment and prevents transmission.

  • Syphilis

A bacterial infection that develops in stages and can cause serious long-term damage if untreated. Easily cured when detected early.

  • Hepatitis B

A viral infection that affects the liver and can lead to chronic disease. Vaccination offers protection, and early diagnosis helps prevent complications.

  • Hepatitis C

A liver infection transmitted through blood contact. Often symptom-free but curable with modern antiviral therapy.

  • Gonorrhoea

A common bacterial infection that may cause discharge or pain, but often shows no symptoms. Treatable with antibiotics.

  • Chlamydia

One of the most frequent STDs, often without symptoms. If untreated, it can lead to infertility or inflammation in reproductive organs.
